Diamond Dash - Do Good Stitches

Boring post after yesterday's venture into comedy. But I will post something Wednesday to disprove my Lazy Girl accusations of myself. :)

Completed my second do. good stitches block for the Cherish circle. The theme was aqua and orange. After trying paper piecing for the first time and falling in love with the technique (but printing the template the wrong size) I went back and had another go using this tutorial by Leila and ended up with the block I'd planned in the first place - so pleased!!!

white sparrow on aqua background, orange blossoms as centre block; hst in each corner, orange on aqua diamonds to NSEW of sparrow.
(If you are new here and wondering why I write obvious captions, Giles over at TouchNSew is blind and learning to quilt. He's a follower to pictures aren't much use but the screen reader pics up captions. BTW, I think braille paper piecing is totally possible. )

The block is called Diamond Dash and yup, that's Joel Dewberry's Aviary 2 print in there. The colours worked perfectly for this month's DGS requirements. :) I'm kinda in love with this block. I want to keep it, but no, the little sparrow must fly away to make someone else happy...

BWS tips buttonDiscovered the Quilter's Cache along the way which will be helpful for these bees. I don't like doing the same block time and again which is why bees will be good for me.

I'm never going to make a sampler, but I'm keeping and eye on Leila's blog and anything with this "We can do it - skill builder" button.

  2. That block turned out beautifully.

That is an amzing button for the Skill Builder Sampler, isn't it? And I love the Quilter's Cache.

  3. and those captions are very appreciated :)

I'd imagine paper piecing is possible - the difference in texture between the template and the fabric would probably be even easier to deal with than trying to line up fabric squares prior to sewing... that can take me 5 minutes of checking and re-checking to make sure all my edges are lined up correctly!

Yippee - you're commenting! I _love_ comments. :) I've had so much spam lately though that I'm limiting to registered users for a bit to see if that works... If you're a friend, you can find me on Facebook and comment that way if you have trouble.
