Dogs were particularly interested in something under a bush at the park this afternoon, and some anxious squawking alerted me to this little fellow's presence, so I had to get them out of the way FAST.
Not soon enough to avoid get dive-bombed by his anxious parents
as he was perched in a low bush about my shoulder
height. Definitely not a safe area for him, but he seemed pretty knackered after
what must have been one of his first big flights. Australian magpies swoop people and animals around their territory in spring.
Can be quite nasty if you look up at the wrong moment so I was as glad
to get the dogs away as Mummy magpie was to see us go! But I snuck in to
get this photo just for you (and got swooped again!).
He's looking like he's ready for Friday!
He sounds about as friendly as a Texas Mocking bird. It looks huge.
ReplyDeleteThe Japanese Jungle Crow is quite fearsome when the baby birds fledge. They will chase you for blocks pecking on the head if you just innocently pass by in the park near their peeps....and they remember you and await should you return!
ReplyDeleteI have been told that wearing your sunglasses on the top of your head works - something about reflecting the sunlight!
