No more sewing machine complaints, I finally gave in and admitted that my Singer had got the better of me, put away the fourth quilt top that needs to be quilted and went back to some old WIPs on the trusty Bernettte.
I promise, I do not pose my dogs. I put a quilt out, turn around to get ruler, scissors or something else, and there they are, in the way. (I am tempted to finish a quilt off on the roof, just to see if they manage to get up the ladder while my back is turned.)
Scrappy Alphabet
This one is from an alphabet panel. I fussy cut the squares then attacked the scrap stash to crazy log cabin them. I NEARLY finished it. Just was a tiny bit short on my border fabric - when will I learn to measure before I cut? I have some spare that can be trimmed off a quilt backing - when it is quilted. It's waiting on a new machine. Say no more, say no more...
Ribbons of Pink - Breast Cancer Quilt
This is a very old one. My mum was diagnosed with cancer about 9 years ago now - primary breast cancer, secondary bone cancer. The prognosis was not good, but the good news is, it was wrong and she's happily globe-trotting 9 years later.
I saw this fabric and was reminded of the breast cancer awareness pink ribbon. I started it around that time as a kind of therapy - something to focus and concentrate on to bring order to a chaotic mind and family situation. I decided on flying geese as the feature blocks before I worked out how much making that many flying geese bored me. It was put away for a while as it's one of my 'organic' quilts. (Meaning I don't plan at the start very well sometimes. The quilts just grow. Sometimes beyond my skill level at the time they are being worked on, and so they go away until I'm ready to tackle them again). Anyway, the geese are now finished and I have a plan for the rest of it.
Lainey, being a sweet little girl, most uncharacteristically got to
this quilt before Patches. I had to evict her because of her not so
sweet habit of dribbling (and sleeping with her tongue out).
This DEFINITELY feels like progress!

Your Ribbons of pink quilt is beautiful, so are Lainey and Patches!
ReplyDeleteHope your heads feeling better honey.
Very cute pups :-) Lainey is such a cute name!
ReplyDeleteThat's fab progress! Hope your migraine has gone:)
ReplyDeleteIt's great progress. Cats can be the same way but Tom doesn't often get into my sewing room. He even lies on my wet knitting that I block (on a covered board) on the lounge room floor!
ReplyDeleteGreat quilts and really cute dogs. Sorry to hear about your sewing machine. I hope you find one you love soon!
ReplyDeleteLainey and Patches are adorable!! A bit of doggy drool never hurt anyone! ;) Great job on the WIPs!
ReplyDeleteThe pups are very clearly quilting dogs - they each picked the quilt the suited their colouring best :)
ReplyDeletebeautiful quilts.....and dogs!!
ReplyDeleteHa, it sounds like your organic process is kind of like mine. It always takes us interesting places doesn't it? Great projects, Laura!
ReplyDeleteYou have the cutest dogs! Especially the little drooler :)
ReplyDeleteLoads of progress there! But if you're going up to the roof, try not to fall please, I need you fully in tact for October ;o)
ReplyDeleteIsn't it great the way the pets are always there to help.

Ah, glad to see your quilt inspectors taking their jobs seriously! Both are wonderful projects, but I especially like the colors in Ribbons of Pink.
