TGIFF: Madness

 Do you ever have a totally mad idea take hold that just won't let go? So much that you HAVE to see if you CAN do it?
I have nearly called my neighbour over a dozen times (he is one of the men in white coats).
It's all QuiltJane's fault. Her with her Dress Up Your Roll competition.

I started off being silly, and suggesting world monument toiletroll covers on twitter. A Vatican cover for you Poop-paper. And a few other unmentionable suggestions. But an idea took hold that wouldn't let go. No matter how many times I told myself it was crazy.

So, depsite beating myself over the head several times with bogroll, I've trod the line between madness and genius. Well, maybe not genius.... But there's a lot I'll do for a prize like Jane is offering....

I present to you...

The Leaning Tower of Pee-sa.



It fits 3 toilet rolls. It does lean due to an unevenly stuffed base (deliberate), but it doesn't stand up by itself. That's ok, cos it has a wall to lean against.

I don't think any free-motion embroiders are going to be quaking in their shoes at the new kid on the block's efforts. I can't decide whether it looks fab or foul. It certainly looks like it belongs in the toilet.

The idea has been rocking around in my brain for a while. I tried grey thread. Didn't work. The black is a little stark. I considered putting cream lace over it but it just didn't seem right.

I didn't have any appropriately coloured or aged-looking fabric, so I tea-dyed some natural calico to get that nice stained looking facade.

 Yes, you are entitled to groan, raise your eyebrows, call me mad, call my neighbour to assess me, and/or laugh (I hope).

But I had fun. And I can update my list of interests on my online dating profile to "I enjoy long walks on the beach, moonlight dinners and quilting toilet roll covers in the shape of world monuments".

That'll bring the boys running.
