Thank Godden It's Finished Friday

But my finish is pretty amazing this week.

I took two days off work to do a workshop with Helen Godden, an Australian quilt artist who has won numerous awards and exhibited at Houston.

We spent a good day painting, and then another free-motion quilting and repainting our designs. Helen calls her designs 'Paintchwork'. I have barely painted since highschool and had problems staying inside the lines. There were some very talented artists in the room. Lots of people chose a limited palette and blended their colours beautifully. At the end of day one, mine looked like a pre-schooler had gone beserk with pots of paint. It comforted me that the workshop was called Flying into Colour, not creeping into colour. I flew into colour like a bird flies into a window.

I just have to bind it.

Here is Helen's award winning quilt. It is one piece of black cloth. Un-frigging-believeable.

 Oh how I wish I was this good!

In other news, here is the new addition to the family - Canvalier Mystique Melody (Melody). She's little, lively and heaps of fun. Lainey's not sure but I know she will love the company.
