I had the concept. I have the threads. I had promised to product review the lovely Aurifil threads Mr Alex sent me. (He is remaining Mr Alex as I forgot my Italian and I think I confused Italian spelling with Spanish and no one pointed it out to me. But I am embarrassed about it so Mr Alex it is).
Have you ever tried to design something around a collection of random thread colours? No, me neither.
There is some lovely variagated blue thread I wanted to use, so that is where I started. It remained like this for weeks.
Alone, blue seemed too sombre and I didn't have the time (or the drawing paper frankly) to draw my designs out properly. So I procrastinated.
Then time started running out and desperation set in. I used some of the templates from Kelly of Don't Look Now's pattern which I bought but will never make. (cough). Here's the start of the applique.
We shall see if I get this cushion cover finished in time... Any bets? I'm thinking NOT. But I surprise myself sometimes.
There's meant to be a second cushion case to go with it, so you can put the two together to say "Create ..."
But I'm not telling you what the second word is.
What would yours be? I'm going to giveaway my second pack of Aurifil threads to the best AUSTRALIAN (ok, or New Zealand) answer. Cos we are deprived of Aurifil down here and our postage is a pain in the aurifil.Feel free to answer anyway but tell me if you're an Aussie/Kiwi! If you're not, there's still time to go back a couple of posts and enter the international aurifil giveaway.
I say 'Create Joyfully'. Either that or Create Chaos, which is what seems to happen any time I start designing things.
ReplyDeleteI'm in Canberra.
I would put Hope after the Create. It could be taken as a phrase Create hope, or two seperate words, both to inspire. I reckon it is going to look great. I'm in Victoria
ReplyDeleteCreate Beauty.
ReplyDeleteI'm in Aust and I'm dying to try Aurifil!
ohhh it's going to be so pretty!! You can do it ;)
ReplyDeleteMy word would be *hi*, not in the negative sense but in the anything sense!!
Create Today. Your appliquéd cushion is going to look great! The blue and yellow flowers really stand out.. love them.
ReplyDelete.. an Aussie
I thInk the word should be "Joy" - because I'm sure that you have helped to create joy for all the recipients of your crafty creations xxx
ReplyDeleteHmm, Create Chocolate. Create Crazy. Create Chaos. Create Creations. Create Fun.
ReplyDeleteSouth Aussie here!
Create mess. That's what happens at my house anyway.
ReplyDeleteCreate Mayhem! Because let's face it. That's what you really do, what with your introducing small people to whips and all.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Ellie-Mae, my first thought was create mess. Hope you get it done in time, it's going to be very pretty :o)
ReplyDeleteHURUMPH! OK, I am going to guess anyway...chaos? Love? imagine? I dunno, I just had to put my US self in here...LOL
ReplyDelete"pain in the aurifil" kinda cracked me up... :)
ReplyDeleteOh, yes. I know I'm not eligible. But create...a list.
ReplyDeleteCreate Monsters!
ReplyDeleteAh, well maybe not, but I seem to have one creative monster in my midst, so thought I'd share with you! I'm in WA too, not very far away :-)
I think it could read "Create & Inspire".
ReplyDeleteI'm an Aussie :)
Create peacefully, joyfully, with love
ReplyDeleteon the other side of the country in nsw
Well, I would say 'Create Mischief', but maybe that's just a reflection on the status of my household.
ReplyDeleteIt's looking great so far, can't wait to see the rest.
And *woop* I'm an Aussie!
Hmmm, how about create harmony or beauty or mischief. So many possibilities.
ReplyDeleteOh and I'm a kiwi, incase you hadn't guessed ;-)
'or procrastinate'. hehehe...loved the 'pain in the aurofil' comment too!
ReplyDeleteI will go with create beauty, I think if I had the word it may inspire, truthfully it really should be havoc, I have one mad household, even the dogs bonkers!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your pillow, we all tend to have too many projects....crafty fun right.
sorry but I forgot I am WA girl :-)
ReplyDeleteMy favourite word from my favourite movie ;) 'Create' & 'Serenity'
ReplyDeleteTrue Blue Aussie here and an Aurifil Addict :)
"pain in the aurifil" is funny cos it's true.
ReplyDeleteLove some of the answers - "chaos" and "mayhem" are right up my alley.
My second cushion might say "live", I think - because to create IS to live.
HAVOC
ReplyDeleteI'd like my answer to be more witty "and colourful" but I think cushion two should be Unlimited.
ReplyDeleteWitty & colourful, get it? Haha.
I'm from NSW n found u via Aurifil facebook. And a quokka once bit my Dad LOL.
Not an Aussie/Kiwi, but if you asked my granny, I think she'd say 'Crap'. Not in a bad way, just in a 'you have way too much of that' way lol
ReplyDeleteI really like the design..can't wait to see the finished work. :)
ReplyDeleteCreate... mayhem!?
ReplyDeleteMy sister is a Kiwi, does that count!?
Sillily is absolutely a word. I'm making it a goal to use it today.
ReplyDeleteAs for the pillows, hmmm... I think I would choose "Create Fearlessly" because it's something I struggled with.
I like create mischief...lol....the cushion is going to be so cute
ReplyDeleteBlue is my fav so I'm loving it already! my guess is "innovate"
ReplyDeleteI'm a kiwi cousin from over the ditch ;)
