There's a hole in my fabric dear Liza

Do you remember this quilt and the hole I had that I was agonsing over?

People suggested that I must have mice, moths, or silverfish in my fabric drawers. I haven't seen any of those.
I tried adding decorative stitching, but even with Nina the Bernina and her 9mm wide stitch capability, it wasn't quite cutting it.

Then I found THIS in my fabric drawer.

The holes appeared long before Miss Melody, so we can't blame her. (Although I have caught her chewing fabric scraps she'd stolen from the sewing room). I'd sleep in a drawer of fabric if I could...

Anyway, I ended up following Rachel's advice and appliquing a few random letters to hide the hole and not make it look like I was hiding the hole...

Phew! And trying out the different stitches on Nina to try and tie in with the letters was fun. See all those cute little hearts?!

But FINALLY it's FINISHED!!!
I've stippled the border - mega stipples - in Aurifil 28 weight. Love it. :) Just the right thickness to show up your quilting beautifully and a lovely sheen.
And just to show off my quiltmodels... They took a bit of convincing ...

but settled in ...

and got comfortable...

 :)
All I can say is

Now time to linky up your finishes!

Very cute quilt but the dogs steal the show!

I think that's a great solution. I have a dog who chews quilts, and so does my daughter! Luckily, most dogs don't. Love your little helpers.

Lovely quilt and very pretty dogs! We used to have a cat who ate lycra (it was the 80s, my Mum sewed a lot of leotards LOL) :)

Man I am in love with that backing fabric Laura. Love the quilt dogs - perfect accessory to this quilt. well done on a fabulous quilt. My mum made these panels into a quilted book for one of my kids - but I prefer the in your quilt.

OMG, I love Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, they're so sweet tempered and loving!

I love your quilt, those letters worked wonderfully to hide the holes! I'm sure you couldn't stay mad at those pups for long.

Happy Friday!!

Great way to fix the hole problem. Congrats on finishing another beautiful quilt. Of course the quilt wouldn't look as good without the quiltdogs ;)
