Pets on Quilts

Pets on Quilts

How could I resist?

This is still my favourite photo of the year - my AP&Q photo with both my original quilt dogs. Mr Patches (Blenhem Cavalier King Charles Spaniel - the brown and white), named after my hobby, passed away in Feb at the age of 11, just before the magazine came out. Miss Lainey (the tricolour) is lying snoring with a doggy-diaper on. She's on her last legs and won't be around come Sewing Summit time.

My replacement Patch, Miss Melody, is a happy little soul with very long ears and tail and legs and a fairly thin coat, so I made her a little doggy coat for Winter.
And that's my year in Quilts and Cavaliers... Go and check out the other cuties at Lilypad Quilting

  5. Your spaniels are gorgeous and your quilt is stunning. I love dark backgrounds for quilt- they just set off those rich colors you have used in your quilt.
We had a dog when I was a kid that was a cocker spaniel. Her name was also Patches. I think she was about 12 or 14 when she passed away. She was my first pet.
Sorry to hear of the passing of your Pet. It is always hard when one loses them- they leave a space just like other loved ones.
    Regards from Western Canada,
    Anna

  8. Sorry for your loss. I lost my sweet puppy of 17 years this year also. She wore diapers for the last year of her life. She was so good about it too. Your puppies have a wonderful life with you, I can tell.

  9. Such sweethearts! Our very first pup also ended up in diapers, and that was before they actually made them for dogs...I'd buy really baby ones from the grocery store - cut a hole for her tail...she thought she was pretty cool...no embarrassment at all!
