WIP Wednesday and a giveaway!

Last week, two Fabulous Things happened.
1. I hit 400 followers.

2. I got a parcel of fabric I'd ordered from Fabricworm. It was the best fabricporn ever, so I wrote a little poem. That's how excited I got. Fabricworm is and has been one of my favourite shops since I started ordering online. No, they're not a sponsor. (No, I'm not getting freebies. I just love their fabric, their service and their style).

One of my favourite Fabricworm lines is Storyboek. I've been stashing Storyboek I for a while and have been waiting impatiently for Storyboek II to come out. But I've been too busy with other projects to work with it. Luckily someone loves it as much as I do and requested a quilt for her new baby granddaughter made from it, so I finally got to have a decent play.

I fussy-cut around some of the Storyboek scenes and bordered them with different size borders.  I HAD to use bits of the Storyboek II line as well - it was just too cute not to. The Storyboek II scenes are much bigger than Storyboek I, so that was a challenge.
Because I had size constraints to work to (my customer wants a smallish wall hanging) I had to restrain myself quite severely.

I was SO grateful for my design wall in arranging and rearranging the blocks!

The baby's nursery is lemon, so I tried to draw some of the yellow out of the fabric too. This is what I came up with.

It's clean, it's simple and it lets the fabrics speak for themselves. I was toying with the idea of appliquéing some apples or flowers or toad stalls, but I think there's enough going on already. I may trapunto the larger scenes to give them a bit more oomph and free motion around them. The tricky decision is what colour to bind it in as I'm out of that coral pearls fabric and don't have enough of anything beside the coral forest scene, and I'm loathe to waste that on binding...

So back to the story of my literary masterpiece entitled 'An Ode to Fabricporn'. and an email from the Worm herself, I was a little cheeky and mentioned Fabulous Thing Number 1 (400+ followers) and said I'd like to do a giveaway, and if they happened to have a fat quarter or two to spare... Cynthia got back to me straight away and asked if a WHOLE FAT QUARTER BUNDLE OF STORYBOEK II would do? Geez Louise, would it ever!!! Dammit, I really should have begged for ME! :)

So some lucky follower will get this gorgeous bundle.  It goes to you direct from Fabricworm so a) I save on the shipping and b) I can't snaffle a few pieces or get it "lost in the post". Damn.
