WIP Wednesday -the paper piecing edition.

WIP Wednesday at Freshly PiecedI have had so much to deal with lately that getting much done has been impossible. Finishes for TGIFF haven't happened and I've been feeling like I've overcommitted and am letting people down. :( I don't like feeling like that, but sometimes life has plans of its own. For the first time in a while, I'm back to WIP Wednesday

Two things I've committed to have tied together rather well. My lovely person at AP&Q, Louise, has been having a hard time lately too, with her mum in and out of hospital. Louise asked me if I could make a block and we came up with the idea of getting 12 AP&Q contributors to each choose or design a block. Louise's mum is a TRADITIONAL quilter, which gave me pause and sent me rummaging to the bottom of my stash for some cream and floral prints. I committed to doing a non-traditional block from ChariseCreates.

Silly me forgot there are three methods of paper piecing.
1. English paper piecing.
2. foundation paper piecing.
3. Freezer paper piecing.
I'm comfortable with 1 and 2. Guess which method this block is? Yup, freezer paper.

I DO NOT LIKE IT SAM I AM I DO NOT LIKE GREEN EGGS AND FREEZER PAPER PIECING.
Even though I blew it up a bit, I fluffed up a few times, as you can no doubt see. It's still a WIP as I want to embroider a needle and dial on it.

And I need to embroider eyes on this little fellow and make him into something. Kristy at QuietPlay is having a paper piecing bloghop. At this stage, I'm not even a little bit sure I'm going to make my spot - cross your fingers and toes for me please!

This pattern is from Artisania Designs, a site you MUST visit if you love paper piecing (foundation PP that is!). She has a few free designs as well as purchasable ones. The fox isn't free, but there's also a hedgehog in the works...

I keep thinking a final vet visit with Lainey is imminent, but then she perks up and gallops around. Sigh...

Happy WIP Wednesday!

That sewing machine block is very cute!

Life happens sometimes, so don't feel bad about not doing bloggy things. Make sure *you* are on your WIP list this week :)

Both blocks are so different, but both are lovely! You did a great job!

It makes me want to try out paper piecing too. I'm afraid to, it looks so hard to me.

Oh I'm totally with you on the freezer PPing - ugh! Fingers crossed you get Mr Fox done in time, and hope Lainey stops giving you near heart failure soon!

I love your fox block! I haven't tried paper piecing at all, so you're definitely further along than I am. :)

Thanks for sharing!

That is a gorgeous block, hands down - NICE work! :D

I really loath freezer paper piecing! I had a really hard time with it! I stick to foundation paper. :)

I love that sewing machine block...it's wonderful. I have a love/hate relationship with PP....I love to see other people's work, and hate to try it myself. Silly me, I signed on to the "Bowls" hop over at Sew We Quilt....bummer. I must deal with my demon. I'm your newest follower, too! LOL
Sure hope your pup is doing OK and not in any pain... :)
