So exciting that so many people are loving this EPP bloghop idea! We have some bloghop virgins and some EPP virgins signed up, so where do we get started? How about with a picture?
I snapped this grevillia which I planted about a year ago out the front of my house. These are Australian natives and the birds love them.
I opened it in the Adobe Ideas app on my iPad, and that suggested the following palette. Took a screenshot and voila.
The nice thing about this app is that if you don't like the colours it suggests, you can move those dots around to any point on the photo and it pinpoints the exact colour. If you don't have this app, there are lots online, including this lovely palette builder http://www.play-crafts.com/blog/palette-builder/.
I then dove into my stash and came out with three Birch organics from Fabricworm and two fat quarters of Simply Colour from WantItNeedItQuilt.

First up, Gingermonkey Katy is teaching her Spring Carnival block at Sewing Summit.
Second, there's Starblossom from Rachel at StitchedInColor.

Fifth is Penrose which can be found on the paper-pieces.com site as a downloadable pdf and of course, they have all the papers!
Finally, we have the gorgeous JazzHands by Sarah Fielke from her book Material Obsession 2. It is very similar to the Rose Star block, but has only one shape - the kite shape.

ReplyDeleteI would like to make Starblossom and I would take her f8 bundle of Summerville for the centers! BTW, your link doesn't go to her blog. I had to Google it.
ReplyDeleteI'm loving Birds and Berries at the moment and haven't got any yet. So I'd probably buy a layer cake of that from Jane's lovely shop and use that for the centre (the link to her shop is wantitneeditquilt.com.au, I think you're missing the au). And I have recently fallen in love with paper piecing so I'm keep to do some more, I love Katy's Spring Carnival, and will have to try that soon, but I think Starblossom is my favourite!
ReplyDeleteI've been making Jazz Hands since January- one block a month, only I am joining mine with large triangular pieces. I love the look of the VeryKerryBerry block!

ReplyDeleteI'm so excited! I would make the Rose Star Block and use one of the Summersville Weave prints for my center.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to try that Tesselations block :-D I'd have to try to make my center hexagon out of those So Stitchy pink birds :-)
ReplyDeleteI think I'm liking the Spring Carnival block with some text prints in there!
ReplyDeleteI think I'd go for a larger Rose Star block (Because this is one EPP pattern I've not tried) and well Cherry Christmas would be lovely and seasonal - can just see it done as a table runner!
ReplyDeleteI like the Jazz Hands block, mostly because it looks super cool...but I would only have to tackle one shape. o_O With a little Summersville in the center, because it's just too great!
ReplyDeleteHi Laura,
ReplyDeleteI'd like to try some tesselations and I'm with Danny - the Sommerville would make great centres. I'm thinking the buildings in black for centres, with other colours used to make up the rest of the tesselations. I'm probably too late to enter, but thought I'd comment anyway :-)
Great selection! Hard to choose but I do keep coming back to Rose Star - I love the colours in Ticklish at QuiltJane's shop! I love the glue stick too - its what brought me to starting epp!
