The bloghop (and packing) begins! And a winner ...

Goodness me, how time flies! 6 sleeps till I head off to Hawaii then SLC and there's so much to do...

The first of October has crept up on me, and you know what that means???

THE TRAVELLING PIC STITCH BLOGHOP STARTS!!!
We kick off today in the UK with Katy Imagingermonkey. Head on over and check out Katy's pic, palette and post. :) We have a FULL contingent of bloghoppers for every day of October and November from all corners of the globe - isn't that exciting?! You can find all the details here. Whether you're on the 'official list' or not, we're not going to go all nightclub-bouncer on you - everyone is welcome on the red carpet on November 30 for the linky party!

One thing that also escaped me was drawing the winner of QuiltJane's Rose Star Peeper Template. How neat is this? You can see everything that will end up being seen in the finished block perfectly!

Anyway, Random.org said the winning entry is number 21 which is... Claire, at Sewing Over Pins! (Sewing over pins is not recommended kids, don't take that as encouragement). Congratulations Claire!

Here's what I have done:
  • Cut 6780 shapes for Faith and Kati's shapes class at Sewing Summit. I outsourced the cutting of the hexagons to Danny as she has the accuquilt die, but in return I cut 6000 diamonds (or something like that) and 780 rectangles and squares (rough approximation).
  • Drawn out a PJ pants pattern on that thin interfacing-y stuff, because sticking together 300 pieces of paper (ok, 25) that looked like this wasn't going to happen as I don't have that many hours to spare:
  • Made nametags for Danny, Katy, myself and Erika who is rooming with Danny and I. I won't show you because I want to see their faces as they struggle to look polite if they don't like them.... but here's the backs of Katy's and Danny's.

  • Made presents stuff for ME (will show later, this post is getting too long).
  • Packed - not a lot. Well, my suitcase is near full. But there's like a raincoat in there and that's about it by way of clothing so far. (More clothing will be added. Probably.) In there, besides the raincoat, there are:
    • 35 km of fabric for Danny. Yes, you read that correctly. Danny ordered about 12 stone of fabric from AUSTRALIA and I am taking it TO THE US. How's that for weird?
    • Kangaroo for Danny
    • Book for Danny
    • Toy for Danny
    • 6780 diamonds and rectangles
    • the single-girl fabric for a few peeps
    • present for Katy
    • paper-pieces for the bloghop (buried)
and a few other things.
The 'candy and cookies' in there are:
  • Crunchies for Charlene who is taking Cori and I on a private shop-hopping tour of SLC
  • Cherry ripes and Timtams for the roomies. If you want to find out more about TimTams, American comedian Greg Berhendt does a standup routine about them.  If you're curious, watch, but stop before the end if you're easily offended!
Oh, there's also a donkey from Erin, which I am not allowed to reveal yet. But her Donktober bloghop starts today. Worth checking out today's post and trust me, there will be some ridonkulous things to be seen along the way...
Donktober

Okey dokes, back to it. It's a gorgeous 34c outside so I'm thinking a trip to the beach might be in order to avoid more packing!

  3. Dammit, now I want a Crunchie! Glad to see you've got the important stuff in there and a good plan taking fabric for someone else as once you've given it to them you have room for the same amount to come back - brilliant idea!

  7. I love how you all say "sleeps" instead of nights when you are counting down for a trip. Jealous of Danny's fabric as they are some of my favs - can't wait to see all these bloghops unfold!

  8. You are a very nice friend to give up so much precious bag space. The nice thing is that it will be empty for the return trip. ;)

Yippee - you're commenting! I _love_ comments. :) I've had so much spam lately though that I'm limiting to registered users for a bit to see if that works... If you're a friend, you can find me on Facebook and comment that way if you have trouble.
