This is a quilt that has LURKED. It's been on my 'guilt' list. It was one of the first pieces of fabric I bought online. This is what it looked like. (Apologies. Phone photo from yonks ago).
This is what those blocks look like now:
Since then, I've discovered modern quilting. These were NEVER my colours hence taking forever to finish it. My mum was also an influence in my decision to buy the fabric but DOESN'T WANT A QUILT. On top of that, this quilt was unfortunate enough to encounter the terrible Singer machine and it was SOOOO frustrating that the walking foot didn't... so it kept getting put aside. Given all this, the motivation to finish just hasn't been there.

But it's finished, it's beautiful (even if it's not ME) and I'm sure some little girl would love it. But THANK THE FAIRIES IT'S FINISHED!!! Your turn to linky up!
Awesome! I have the same fabric for a quilt for my daughter only in the blues, plus a big panel for the middle. It is also a guilt quilt and the fabric has been in my UFO bins for nearly 2 years now. I should get on that I guess. :D I'll be linking up my finished Star Wars quilt as soon as it comes out of the dryer! :D
ReplyDeleteWell done getting a big WiP finished! The fairies are very sweet!
ReplyDeleteIt's not me either but I do think it's lovely. You could donate it to the children's hospital as a raffle quilt (if you've a mind to)! Lots of sick little girls and their families need some fairy magic! Of course, you may have a niece you would prefer to bless! Wherever it goes, I'm sure it will be much loved!
ReplyDeleteGood on you for getting to the finish line! Of course someone out there will love it! And that's what makes it worthwhile finishing!
ReplyDeleteI've got a couple of panels in different colours, I adore flower fairies, has to be the Cecily Mary Barker ones though. Your panel gives me some inkling about how to use them though.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the finish. It's lovely, though not me either. I'm sure it'll find a good home?
ReplyDeleteOne thing though... How can your mum not want a quilt? I'm looking forward to the day when I can banish duvets from my house and there are only quilts :)
Yay!!! It's soooo nice to get lurkers finished, eh? :D I really love the sashing on this - neat effect.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the finish. It's always nice to finish something that's been hanging over your head for a long time and I'm sure whatever girl gets it will be thrilled.
ReplyDeleteHa, I love that your mum steered you to the fabric and then didn't want it! Oh well, I'm sure some wee girl will love it...
ReplyDeleteGood for your for finishing it! Those little fairies are cute, but I totally understand what you mean. I had an unfinished quilt for a long time, because I started before I discovered modern fabric. I finally finished it up for an auction last year and got it out of my house!
ReplyDeletegreat blog..i love it, i really want to lean quilting
ReplyDeleteframeless shower screens
Thanks for hosting TGIFF this week - what a sweet Fairy print that is! I think I may have messed up my photo and cropping in your linky, but no matter! happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteI loved flower fairies when I was little! Can see why it's not you but a little girl will adore it :)
ReplyDeleteGreat finish, especially with no real motivation to do so!!
I'm pretty sure I have some of this fabric in my stash. Like it, bought it and didn't know what to do with it. I like how you framed the faeries. I think I may use Lynne's comment suggestion. It would be a good donation quilt for a sick child.
ReplyDeleteLOL When I first read this the other day I was wondering which F you were talking about ;) Glad you're thanking the fairies! :) I would have loved this quilt when I was a little girl :) Those flower fairies were a firm favourite of mine :)
