First Sewing 'Class'

After following the progress of a couple of my quilts, some of the girls at work asked where they could learn. The quilting shop near me has sadly closed down, so there's a bit of a gap, and I offered to start them off with the basics. Let's call my first 'students' (aka friends), C1 and C2.
C1 started a few weeks before Christmas and decided to make a name based wall hanging for her two year old daughter who is Nemo-mad. A quick trip to ebay and another to Spotlight and we were set. This is the result:
C1's first quilt
Looks pretty amazing. :) Yay for C1! Next project is a bag.

C2 had let her daughter choose some fabric for her to work with (My first thought was "Eek! that's like letting your children choose your pet's names..." You end up with a 45kg Rottweiler called Mr Fluffy). The pattern was HUGE - first thought was use the panel as cushions and applique butterflies on quilt, but we worked out a layout that looks like it will work - will be good to watch it progress!
C2's quilt - step 1 - the idea...
Next victim participant of quilt class is waiting on her material to arrive. Lovely Bazooples fabric for her new grand daughter. Working with feature fabric seems to be my thing.
(Sorry about the photo quality - evening and iphone - not a great combination).
Now I'm thinking a lot about what I'd do if I taught a class formally, but at the moment, I'm also thinking a lot about the Queensland flood victims. One crafter is doing something very practical. I'd like to auction off some things, but setting up a store is a bit beyond me given my time this week. So have a look at the following link and support:

Yippee - you're commenting! I _love_ comments. :) I've had so much spam lately though that I'm limiting to registered users for a bit to see if that works... If you're a friend, you can find me on Facebook and comment that way if you have trouble.
