Of blocks and bees - TNT

Well, I've gone and done it now. I've gone and entered the world of bees and swaps.

I started a virtual quilting bee via our Australian Quilter's facebook group, Quilt Club Australia. The lovely Missy Mac Erin is kicking us off in January. And Ms Kay Shocking Hocking has also joined us. She runs the Cherish Do.Good Stitches circle so is a veteran and will be invaluable. So it was only appropriate that this arrived this week.
Block Party book and Modern Mix - yum!
I don't buy craft books generally, but definitely put these two on your list for Santa.
And you know when you make one block, they breed and all of a sudden you have a heap? Well, bees seem to breed like that too. Guess who the newest member of do. Good stitches is?
Yup, me.
I may be out of my depth here.
But I tried paper piecing for the first time for my first block.
I LOVED paper piecing.
However I didn't measure the test inch on the printout and it was a little out. At least we can blame the printer and nothing actually went wrong with my paper pieced block.
So this is nothing like the block I planned. But I'm no longer scared of paper piecing.
Or bees.

Linking up with TNT (Try New Things) over at Happy Quilting. :)
Glad I did.

  4. Laura, I am so excited that you have entered the world of paper-piecing and Bee swaps! I have only done a couple bees for Margaret's Hope Chest, but I didn't swap anything just made 4 piece o' String blocks. I can't wait to see more from your bees, they are such creative blocks out there, aye? Have fun and enjoy yourself!!

Yippee - you're commenting! I _love_ comments. :) I've had so much spam lately though that I'm limiting to registered users for a bit to see if that works... If you're a friend, you can find me on Facebook and comment that way if you have trouble.
