When I had this crazy idea last year that I would try and learn some more free motion quilting designs to make a quilt-as-you-go quilt and run my own quiltalong, I kinda thought I was crazy. But I was also really really excited.

Well, it has been an adventure. And this week is Choose Your Own Adventure. Choose your own, branch out, think about what you'd like to do and just do it! Can you create your own FMQ design yet? Can I?
When I started, I said I wanted to end up here, at the infinity tree, so I have. In terms of quilt placement, this is my last block, but I am going to show you it before my second last block.
So without further ado, here is my version of the Infinity Tree. (Mine's more of a bonsai really).
My last block is totally original. I considered the cross-dressing-tap-dancing otters I mentioned ages ago, and decided to leave that to Leah and go with something a bit more representative. In the last 4 months I've had one of the highest highs and one of the lowest lows I've ever experienced. I've been up hill and down dale. I've been there and back again. So here is my choose-your-own-adventure block.
Yes, it's a hobbit door. The original title of The Hobbit was There and Back Again, which resonates with me, this quiltalong and the last four months.
I'm happy with door, and the mountains have the original Tolkein-esque look I was going for. The foothills don't look quite right, but isn't it great that there's always room for improvement so the adventure can continue?!

Congrats on doing all these blocks. Although this QAL was top of my 'to do' list this year, I'm sorry to say I still haven't started. But I have been very inspired by seeing how you've all got on. I love the tree and the hobbit door :)
