Not a finish Friday.

I'm sending you in two directions today. It's always a worry sending your pets off to other people, to look after, but my Unicorn Quilt has found a good home - it's the cutest post so have a look.

And of course, it's TGIFF. I was going to have a small finish for today and make it a full month of finishes, but my neighbour dropped around last night and my sewing plans went out the window. She did bring some sewing books, one of which featured this:

OMG. How sewing and fashion has changed. Even more scary is the fact that when I posted it on facebook, several of my Aussie quilting ladies confessed to having owned a pair of those in their younger years...

So I don't have a finish. But luckily, Shanna does and she's hosting TGIFF this week. So hop (or skip) on over and see her lovely finish and all the other finishes that have linked up. And TG it's nearly beer o'clock on a Friday and I get my machine back tomorrow! Have a great one!

  1. I love the panties pattern! I have been looking for something like this for ages :)

  2. Looks like your unicorn found a very happy home :)

That pattern cracks me up. Somehow missed it on facebook. I can't say I had hand sewn undies when I was younger, but the style is very similar to what my mother used to buy me.

  3. There may well have been some discussion on witches britches on Facebook as well. Clearly I'm showing my age that I can remember them! Not on the underwear subject but in the same vintage, anyone remember the dreaded crimpelene (not sure I spelled that right!)? That was truly the most awful fabric. I remember I had a dress made of it when I was small and I hated it with a passion!

  4. We had to wear navy blue 'bloomers' under our sports uniform when I was in high school in the early seventies!

  5. Loving the unicorn, you've made a wee girl very happy there :o) Can't believe you didn't finish a pair of those 'panties' for this week though...

  6. Yes, I remember Gym knickers too! I was tiny, and the shop sold us the smallest size- I would have fitted in three times over! I still had the same pair when I left school seven years on!
I made similar knickers to your pattern to go under frocks for my girls as babies- Covered their nappies nicely!

Yippee - you're commenting! I _love_ comments. :) I've had so much spam lately though that I'm limiting to registered users for a bit to see if that works... If you're a friend, you can find me on Facebook and comment that way if you have trouble.
