SL,UT

I had to warn Katy with her potty-mouth that the dome has amazing acoustics and anything you say next to Jesus can be heard all over. There is certainly some beautiful scenery in Salt Lake, Utah - commonly abbreviated to SL,UT. Don't believe me? Ok, I don't blame you...
The day after Sewing Summit was sunny and clear - perfect for wandering the city. Katy and I checked out the Mormon Temple and Convention Centre which were pretty impressive.

We had a personal tour of the Mormon Convention centre which seats 21,000 people. The most impressive bit to me was the roof and its view.

I've been doing a bit of playing with the new camera, but not got too far with it yet. But some of the scenery is so spectacular it's hard to do a bad job.
Can you see what sort of colours I'm going to go for for the first bloghop post? I am not sure yet, but sky blue and grey are going to feature.

Now this next bit is in the Mormon Visitor's centre. You literally ascend up a spiral ramp through the heavens and see Jesus. When Katy texted me to find out where I was, I told her that this was possible. She said "that was what I was scared of".

I had to warn Katy with her potty-mouth that the dome has amazing acoustics and anything you say next to Jesus can be heard all over. She did take a photo of her bear Jack next to Jesus and did rather loudly explain the Jack concept to someone, to the benefit of the entire hall, but thankfully she did not drop the F-bomb.

Now from religion to sacrilegious, if you didn't believe me, here's a t-shirt of some lovely Salt Lake souvenirs...

We didn't get a tshirt, although there were two rainbow SLUT ones for the price of one, but we decided against it...
Until next time...

  1. As someone born and raised in the Salt Lake Valley, your post made me laugh. =) It would have been fun to tour the city with you.
Nobody besides the people that print the tourist tshirts call it SL,UT, though it be entertaining. Roosters Brewing Company in Ogden has some really fun shirts that say "First Wife" and "Second Wife" etc.

  3. I love, love, love the Jesus pic. Myself would have been overwhelmed by that. It's like a scene out of a dream, with the beautiful starry night sky, the moon as a back drop to the massive, white, pure and welcoming Jesus. Impressive. Miss you though Laura. x
