I have been quiet but not unproductive lately. One of the finishes that I haven't been able to show was a pattern-testing-proofreading project for Sara at SewSweetness. Sara has just released her Accordion bag pattern - available to buy in her shop - and I was one of the lucky ones to test it for her. This is Sara's prototype:
And this is my version
Sara had initially labelled it 'beginner friendly, but with curves, tiny pleats (which drove me distracted) and sewing through about 8 layers or more when attaching the flap - well, you'd have to be a darn good beginner!
I lengthened the strap on mine a little from the original instructions - I'm a fair bit taller than Sara - but that was the only modification I made. If you want to read Sara's full write up and see a heap of other fantastic versions of this bag, you can check out her full post here.
Now I'm off to sew!
Hi Laura! Your new bag is fantastic! Hugs! x Teje
ReplyDeleteI love your version Laura and your honest appraisal of the level!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you haven't been quiet, you just haven't been wittering on here ;o) Glad you got your bag sorted in the end!
ReplyDeletelove your bag.....
ReplyDeleteIt looks awesome! I have to admit, I think yours was my favorite.. I love the black and white with that little splash of color on the front. :D
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw your post title in my reader I thought you'd made a bag for an accordion - but this looks much more useful! I love sara's and yours but I especially like your fabrics. I agree it looks very tricky for a beginner piece :)
ReplyDeleteI checked out the pics of the rest of the bags. They all look great, including yours!
ReplyDeleteA pattern writer needs an honest pattern tester! Good on you!
ReplyDeleteYour bag looks great. Love it in the black and white
