On other types of hopping, my neighbour was hopping up and down in great excitement on the weekend. She called across the road for me to "COME AND TAKE A LOOK" in the back of her visitor's car. I peered in and saw the edge of a baby blanket.
"Oh god," I thought, "I have to coo and be pleasant about a total stranger's new baby. What a drag!"
I made the appropriate noises, moved a bit further in and... well. There were two babies.
THESE two babies.
AMAZING, right? I mean, getting red kangaroo babies this far south!!!! Obviously, two Western Greys in a laundry basket in the back of a Commodore in the suburbs on a weekend is run of the mill, but these guys?
In other furry news, the dogs left me a dead mouse on the sun-lounger, and we found a baby snake - a DEADLY baby snake - on the back patio. Melody went after it but was hauled out of harm's way just in time. <Shudder>. I'm moving to Ireland.
And I taught my first patchworking class on the weekend. Meet the (Deliberately) Wonky Star Crew. Isn't that a good name for a hiphop group?

Wow Laura, your week has began very very exited! Those babies are the most adorable cuties! I wish I could join your crew! We have had also some pleasant and unwanted friends aroun. Pine martin was running in the garden and mice family tries to move on the patio over my 'quilting sofa'. Too hot to quilt outside. I hope your week continues as well as it has started! x Teje
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! Those babies are soooo cute! Glad no harm came of the deadly snake! Eeep!
ReplyDeleteAs for me, my week involves finishing loading up our entire lives moving half way across the united states with 3 kids, two dogs, and two cats.
Those Kangaroo babies are the sweetest ever! - But you can keep the snake! I have snail-mailed you today. Apparently it should take about a week to get to you so let me know if you don't get a parcel within about ten days and we'll try for third time lucky! I have my fingers crossed, though, that the Austrian goats are busy eating all the new grass... :)
ReplyDeleteBlimey you have a mad life!! When is the album out ;)
ReplyDeleteFunny time of year to find a snake, I would have thought it would be too cold by now for them to be out! Good on Melody for being brave trying to protect you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a good looking Crew you have there! Very impressed. :) xx
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, to me, Laura - I have put you on my sidebar, about time. lovely, interesting Post. Sometime next week I'm off to Thailand for about 3 weeks. I am thinking about starting kantha quilting while there. Have fun all you Lovelies!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I mean in Ireland you get exotic calves in the back of the car, or maybe a lamb or two... ;o)
ReplyDeleteThis week is hell on earth so far, but on Saturday afternoon I will be relaxing by a pool in Provence. I keep telling myself that...
I needed a good laugh and you surely managed to start me off with one! I live in California and have no idea where which kangaroos are supposed to be but you are funny! lol Sorry about the snake. We run into rattlesnakes every once in a while here on our property and when I worked they were an every day occurence. I could live without them! :/ Hope the rest of your week is free of deadly critters. Pssst.....there is probably something deadly in Ireland and you just haven't heard about it. lol
ReplyDeleteThat is just too cute! Little baby roos. Hope to win the book. Thanks for chance.
